We're Rooting For You: Enjoy The Journey

Hello, my fellow creatives.
I’m writing this at 1am EST on May 5th as I step into my 44th revolution around the sun.
Birthdays have always been a time of reflection for me—and this one hits a little different.
This year, I’m blessed to be celebrating back home in Detroit, surrounded by family I don’t get to see often after spending the last 15 years living over 2,000 miles away. Being back where my story began, while stepping into another year of life, feels full circle in a way that’s hard to fully put into words.
Naturally, it has me thinking.
I think back to being 17—when I first dove into DJing and music production in the city that raised me. What started as a hobby quickly became an obsession… and that obsession eventually turned into a dream.
And that dream? It opened doors I once thought only existed for other people.
From backyard parties in high school, to college nightlife, to touring nationally and internationally after making the move to Los Angeles… it’s been a journey I don’t take for granted.
But let’s be real—it was never a straight line.
Along the way, there were setbacks. Life happened. Some things were completely out of my control. And if I’m being honest, there were moments where I got in my own way too. We all do it at times.
But that’s part of it.
That’s part of what makes the story real. That’s where the growth lives. That’s where the character is built.
And truthfully, I don’t think the dreaming ever stops.
What does change, though, is the shape of the dream.
As we evolve, as we experience more life, as we take wins and losses—our vision expands. It matures. It becomes less about just us, and more about impact.
Today, my dream looks different than it did when I was 17.
Today, my focus is building Beats Freaks Geeks into something bigger than myself—a platform and a community that creates real opportunities for creatives. Opportunities like the ones I’ve been fortunate enough to experience along my journey.
That’s the mission now.
But just like any dream, I know the road ahead won’t be perfect. There will be setbacks. There will be challenges. Life will continue to do what life does.
And that’s exactly why it’s so important to find joy in the process.
Because when I look back, it’s not just the milestones that stand out—it’s the moments. The experiences. The people. The growth. The stories.
It’s been one hell of a ride so far.
And one day, it’ll probably make one hell of a story to tell.
But until then, we’re still in it.
So wherever you are on your journey—whether you’re just starting, finding your rhythm, or rebuilding after a setback—I want to remind you of something:
Enjoy it.
All of it.
The highs, the lows, the uncertainty, the breakthroughs. It’s all part of what makes your path uniquely yours.
Every year. Every day. Every opportunity to keep going is a blessing.
And with that… the journey continues.
We’re rooting for you.
