Sandy Mental - Mountain
Sandy Mental — “Mountain”
Man, Mountain, the latest release from Sandy Mental, is such a vibe. The piano samples and drum pattern immediately reminded me of that classic golden-era hip-hop sound. I even caught a little of the feeling I get listening to Jay-Z’s Dead Presidents. Not because the tracks sound alike, but because they tap into that same laid-back, nostalgic atmosphere that I’ve always loved about that era.
The production is full of gritty drums, dusty samples, and textures that give the track plenty of character. It’s chill, a little moody, and has that kind of groove that makes you immediately want to start freestyling. But trust me, I’m no rapper, so y’all definitely don’t want to hear me attempt that.
One thing I’ve always appreciated about Sandy Mental’s production is the use of tape saturation and those analog textures. There’s a certain richness to the sound that gives the music its own personality, and Mountain is another great example. I love how Sandy Mental can take these familiar elements of hip-hop production and create something that feels distinctly his own.
If you’re a fan of golden-era hip-hop, dusty piano samples, gritty drums, and that classic analog sound, this one is definitely worth your time.
Another dope release from Sandy Mental. Check out Mountain and enjoy.
