Mayaewk - Safe As Home

Mayaewk — “Safe As Home”
I’m currently sitting here listening to Safe As Home, the latest full-length project from Paris-based producer Mayaewk, and man, I’ve been vibing to this one. It’s 20 tracks of straight lo-fi goodness and exactly the kind of chill project I’ve been gravitating toward lately.
I’m a sucker for that dusty vinyl sim from the 404, dope sample selection, tape saturation, and that soft, slightly worn-in sound, so there’s a lot here that immediately caught my ear. Some of these tracks have me feeling like I should be sitting somewhere along the French Riviera with a drink in my hand and a little hip-hop bop playing in the background. Very classy. Very refined. I love the different textures Mayaewk brings into the project while still keeping the overall vibe relaxed.
One of my personal favorites is Algorithm. Oh man, this one gets dark. It’s probably one of the more brooding tracks on the album, and y’all already know I love me some dark music. Naturally, that one went straight into rotation. I also like how it gives me a little change of scenery from some of the brighter, more laid-back moments on the project.
I’ve actually had Safe As Home playing while cleaning around the house tonight, and it’s been the perfect soundtrack. I haven’t felt the need to skip around or change the vibe. I’ve just been letting the album play and enjoying where it takes me.
That’s probably the best recommendation I can give it. Safe As Home is 20 tracks deep, and I’m over here cleaning my apartment and letting the whole album ride.
Give Mayaewk’s Safe As Home a listen. Lo-fi goodness. Enjoy.
