Let's introduce you to our readers? Tell us a bit about yourself.

My name is Yolanda Blonda. I’m a singer, songwriter, and producer from the Bay Area. I grew up playing piano, guitar, bass, and drums, and fell in love with the immediacy of the SP-404. After years playing in bands, I now focus on my solo work to tell my own story.

What inspired you to start creating music, and how has your journey evolved since you began?

I was inspired early by a family friend who produced their own music and showed me the ropes. That sparked a DIY mindset. Since then, I've evolved from band collaborations to producing my own work, blending live instrumentation with electronic production.

How would you describe your sound and style to someone who has never heard your music before?

Indie, electronic, and instrumental alternative rock. If you like Pinback, Toro y Moi, or Fugazi, you'll find something familiar in my sound.

What’s your creative process like when producing a track or writing music? Do you have any unique rituals or habits?

Journaling in the morning helps clear my head. I also need to get outside—hiking, biking, or skating—to reset before I can focus in the studio.

Who are your biggest musical influences, and how have they shaped your sound or approach to production?

The textured beats of Teebs, Mndsgn, and Flying Lotus, combined with the raw energy of bands like …And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead and Algernon Cadwallader, taught me how to blend atmosphere with intensity.

What challenges have you faced as an independent artist, and how have you overcome them?

Perfectionism was a huge block. I realized a song is never perfect—and it shouldn't be. Now I focus on releasing the best version I can, learning from each one, and applying that to the next project.

What’s been the most memorable moment in your music career so far?

Building a global network of collaborators and finally feeling confident in the sound that represents me—that clarity came from years of patience and practice.

What can fans expect from you in the near future, and how can they best support your work?

I've just launched a direct Fan Club (DM me to join!). I'll be sharing exclusive music, early visuals, and behind-the-scenes updates there first. Joining is the best way to support and stay connected. Also purchasing my records on BandCamp and subscribing to my YouTube Channel.

To wrap things up, we’ve gotta ask—what’s your all-time favorite sci-fi movie? It’s practically a Beats Freaks Geeks tradition!

'E.T.' forever. But 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind' and the original 'Star Wars' are close behind.

Mitch, you’ve been part of the extended BFG family for a while now, and we really appreciate you taking the time to share your journey and influences with the community. Your perspective adds real value to the culture we’re building. Can’t wait to have you back on our stage, and wishing you all the best as you move into your next chapter.
