Get to know Ldot Adot.
Ldot Adot is a new jersey native whose initials happen to be L.A. His creative and professional journey led him to Los Angeles where his hobby and passion for music led him to deejaying and music production. He loves all music and loves to chop samples, program drums and make groovy basslines.
What inspired you to start creating music, and how has your journey evolved since you began?
Spinning records and getting interested in making edits got me into using DAWs like Ableton and Serato Studio. After taking a Serato workshop sponsored by a non profit Tec Lemeirt, I was inspired by a room full of amazing producers to make my own creations. I'm inspired by meeting dope individuals that I have met at events like Beats Freaks and Geeks, Flip a Beat Club, Duck World, and Burgers and Beats that have pushed me to broaden my musical horizons. Also reading books written by Questlove, Black Thought, Rick Rubin and others that documented the lives of J Dilla and Quincy Jones inspired me to start creating.
How would you describe your sound and style to someone who has never heard your music before?
The sound and style that I have cultivated so far is experimental boom bap inspired by funk, soul and movies.
What’s your creative process like when producing a track or writing music? Do you have any unique rituals or habits?
My creative process when producing a track usually starts off with a sample that is inspiring. Chopping that sample up then drives me to a drum pattern and then a bassline. Adding on a lead melody that I eventually like to tuck in the background is my last step before deconstructing the loop and arranging a pattern.
Who are your biggest musical influences, and how have they shaped your sound or approach to production?
Mad Lib, Dj Quik, Raphael Saadiq, D'Angelo, Battlecat, Jake One, Black Milk, Alchemist, Dilla, Dibia$e and Hi Tek to name a few are super inspiring.
What challenges have you faced as an independent artist, and how have you overcome them?
I'm so used to working in a collective and that inspires me to get excited about creating. Most of my musical journey outside of the events and workshops have been isolated in the creating space. I love to bounce of loved ones energy , so I had to figure out a way to love myself enought to build projects solo. Giving myself deadlines, goals and acheivements to fulfill and then writing them down gave me some structure to finish ideas.
What’s been the most memorable moment in your music career so far?
In the summer of 2025, I got the opportunity to take a music therapy class at UCLA taught by Esperanza Spalding and team of neuroscience professors. We learned how to communicate with the neighborhood directly, create healing music for a community in need and then implement research, development and programs in tandem with local non profits. The most memorable moment of that course was to meet all the talented musicians and neuroscience students that wanted to community build. At the end, I got to perform with my talented classmates, Esperanza and her band at the Music Center!
What can fans expect from you in the near future, and how can they best support your work?
In 2026, I plan to dj more consistantly whether it's on a montly show at KCHUNG radio or at events like Milkcrate Mondays at Melody Lounge or Livingroom sessions at General Lees. As far as production, I NEED to release an EP, have a listening party for it and see where that can lead me to. The best way for fans to support is to go to my website, www.djldotadot.com and sign up on the email list for more updates!
